Soils and Geoarchaeology Lab
The Soils and Geoarchaeology Lab is dedicated to Dr. Karl Butzer, a pioneer of geoarchaeology. Our lab supports chemical and physical analysis of soils and sediments. Analytical capabilities include loss-on-ignition organic material and carbonate analysis, grain size analysis microscopy, Mehlich II phosphorous testing, isotope sample preparation for Isotope-Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS), and sample preparation for elemental geochemical analysis by Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES). This lab holds a current USDA Soils Import Permit.
